Fan Games, Google+ & Facebook

I've been quiet for a week... what have I been doing? chillaxing? kicking back? Not quite. I've been creating a section for Fan Made Games and filling it with the works of many different people who originally submitted these games between 2001-2006. There are over one hundred Mario themed games in this section made by fans for fans.
I would like to thank Adam "PopmanW" for providing me with these, Adam ran Super Mario Portal for years after my departure and had them on a backup disc. So finally we can restore these games on a page so they aren't lost to the history of the intraweb - Looks like I've got dangerously high amounts of free time right now ;-)
You can checkout these Fan Made Super Mario games by clicking on 'Fan Made Games' in the Fans block on the left of the page.
I'd also just like to post a little update on some other stuff...

We started our Super Mario Bros Community on Google+ 8 days ago, it was intended to be a place for Mario fans to get together, talk about the games, swap friend codes and play together, share funny pics and whatever else you want to do. That community in eight days now has 133 members (at the time of writing) - Thanks to all who joined, and if you didn't join yet why not come and chat to fellow Mario fans today?

Our websites Mario Bros facebook page has gone from 200 likes to 650 likes in only a week or two also - not sure what happened there, but nice one guys, the likes are appreciated

Super Mario Bros. 2 to hit the Wii U Virtual Console this week

Players have another oppurtunity to make sure Wart is getting his five a day! Nintendo recently announced that Super Mario Bros 2 is coming to the Virtual console service for North American Wii U users on 16/05/2013.
By Super Mario Bros. 2 of course, I mean the one we got in the West which was the remake of the lesser known Japanese title Doki Doki Panic with Mario characters in (a great game none the less) because Nintendo Japan considered their version of SMB2 a bit tough for us ;-)
The launch cost of the game will be 4.99 USD - less than Super Mario World
which was the first oldschool Mario title to hit the virtual console for Wii U
at 7.99 USD.

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team preview

We've just added the trailer and gameplay overview for Mario & Luigi: Dream Team the upcoming Nintendo 3DS title due for launch this summer to our YouTube Channel. But I've also embedded it below for your convenience.
The gameplay of this title will shift between "reality" and Luigi's dream world and the setting for the game is a place called Pi'illo (a play on Pillow, because Luigi's asleep?) Island where our heroes have been invited for sightseeing (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toadsworth and some Toads are all present).

You can already pre-order Mario & Luigi: Dream Team on Amazon today.
Nintendo 3DS and Wii game sections enhanced

Bit of a mammoth update this week the likes of which I havent done since like 2003... All of our game info pages for all Mario titles on the Nintendo 3DS and Wii have been hugely enhanced. Also I did a section about Super Princess Peach roughly two years ago and forgot to link it - No wonder I always refer to that game as "little known". I'm fairly sure the term for that would be "EPIC FAIL".
Asides from that I realised that our Screenshots sections nearly all didn't work since I upgraded the site last, so that's all fixed today.
I'd also like to ask that if anyone who visits us happens to be someone who writes reviews of games; I have a few requests for reviews we're missing and would like to show our users some viewpoints of, these titles are:-
-
Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games 3DS version
-
Fortune Street aka Boom Street (Wii)
Have you written a review on these games? would you be willing to? please contact me on luke AT classic-mario DOT net :-) We've also passed over 100 likes on our Facebook page so thanks to everyone for that.
